Benefits of Blueberry Extract

The combination of blueberry extract and radiation therapy has a significant effect on female cervical cancer.

Blueberry is a common fruit in life, and its nutritional value is very rich.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 12 thousand women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in the United States. As we all know, radiation therapy using high-energy X rays and gamma rays, is currently a common method of treatment of cervical cancer.

Recently, a US study showed that the combination of blueberry extract and radiotherapy has a significant effect on the treatment of female cervical cancer.

Researchers at the University of Missouri medical school in the United States in vitro research on human cancer cells show that the combination of blueberry extract and radiation can effectively improve the therapeutic effect of cervical cancer.

According to the relevant information, blueberry pulp contains resveratrol, but also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects of flavonoids. The researchers used the blueberry extract as a radiosensitizer, using human cervical cancer cell lines to simulate clinical radiotherapy. The results showed that only 20% of the cancer cell lines were treated with radiotherapy alone, while the number of cancer cell lines treated with radiotherapy, myristin and blueberry extract decreased by about 70%.

The researchers said that the next step will continue to carry out animal experiments to verify the above findings.
